FLOOD WALLS: AN EXCELLENT MEASURE AGAINST FUTURE STORMS

After Sandy, many buildings decided that as part of their preparedness for future flood damage they would install flood walls: well, here is one being erected in Manhattan as a test showing just how large and strong these walls really are. These massive barriers are designed to fend of flood waters and minimize water seeping into buildings.  I think they will be very effective.  I lived through the storm and was shocked at how effective a glass wall was in keeping out water. While I was inside, the water outside was many inches higher. I believe these walls will be extremely effective in minimizing water seepage and every building in the flood zone should consider using them. Combine these walls with generators, elevated mechanicals and bathtub-built basements, not to mention the new building code requiring buildings to elevate by at least 4 feet, and I think we are heading in the right direction.
