LUXURY LESSONS FROM ROLLS ROYCE

Posted by Leonard Steinberg on January 10th, 2014

Rolls Royce Motorcars announced its highest-ever annual sales volume, delivering 3,630 cars in 2013 in its fourth consecutive record-breaking year. That makes Rolls-Royce the best-selling automaker in the world of cars that cost more than $250,000.00 and a brand all who make ultra-luxury products should watch closely: They are getting it right. Here are the most important lessons I learn from this company:

  1. Zero compromise in quality. Innovation. Distinctive, unique design. True to its heritage. Engineered to perfection.
  2. A large concentration on bespoke customization and personalization (over 70% of their cars sold are customized in some way)
  3. The sales experience at Rolls Royce is actually very friendly: many New York luxury condominium buildings could learn from this!
  4. The wise words of the CEO: “We will always produce one car less than we can sell.” Limiting supply in this super-luxe market is simply smart so as not to flood the market…..a lesson some New York City developers could learn from these days!
