$500,000 for 15 CAMERAS: GOVERNMENT AT ITS VERY WORST?

After the horrific stabbing of 2 young kids in the public housing buildings Boulevard Houses, Mayor De Blasio spoke up about the inefficiency of government to install cameras which are an outstanding deterrent and effective tool to capture perpetrators of such awful crimes.

A $500,000 contract for 15 cameras at the Boulevard Houses—including one camera for the building where the stabbing occurred—was approved Monday by the city’s Office of Management and Budget…..a half a million dollars for 15 cameras????? That’s over $ 33,000 each? I tried to find the most expensive camera on line and it cost $ 2,000. Is this really what this should cost taxpayers or is this the very worst of government waste and careless spending? I am a firm believer in security cameras in a big City such as New York. I believe it enhances security which always enhances real estate values.
