ITS ALL ABOUT THE WEATHER!

The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that the US economy took a 2.9% dip in the first quarter of 2014….the GDP slipped by as much as an annually adjusted rate of 1%…..mostly attributed to the bad weather we experienced throughout the USA. The weather? Really? Having grown up in a colony where the topic of the weather was discussed ad nauseam, I am used to pondering the effects of weather on a daily basis. With my past in fashion, I witnessed how at times on a rainy, miserable day, retail literally would grind to a halt. Earlier this week reports suggested that the sluggish April housing figures could blame the bad weather too. Construction throughout New York was slowed miserably by the bad weather. Weather plays a critically important role not only in our daily personal and professional lives, but in the overall economy……people are after all the economy, and the two are inexorably intertwined. Again, nature rules!
