Yesterday while touring the magnificent HUDSON WOODS development in the Catskills, a simply beautiful 130-acre development of DWELL-editorial-quality homes designed by Drew Lang and represented by James Cox and Frank Giordano of URBAN COMPASS, I spotted something that could be part of the solution to the turmoil that continues to plague the Middle East: an electrical charger for your Tesla in the carport!

I took delivery of a new car last week…..it is diesel powered: it consumes about 20% less fuel than its gasoline counterpart (and its faster!). An electrically powered car uses even less fuel. There are vehicles already available in other parts of the world that combine diesel and hybrid technology that are even more fuel efficient. My point is that if EVERYONE in the USA did their part to reduce their fuel consumption by 20%, we would be self sufficient as a country. Not only could this change the entire dynamic in the Middle East (and Russia), but being energy-self-sufficient would make our economy SOAR!

For large urban centers, electrically powered vehicles and hybrid technology deliver MUCH cleaner air quality and reduce noise significantly too. Trucks and motorbikes should be forced to do the same (is it just me or is the fact that trucks and bikes are allowed to make the kind of noise you and I would be arrested for simply crazy?). Why is it then that with a solution so easily within reach, we are blind to implementing the solutions with URGENCY?
