Reports indicate the penthouse at 18 Gramercy Park has gone to contract for $ 42million, setting a new record for pricing in Downtown New York. The Robert A.M. Stern-designed building  At $ 6,636/sf it seems like a relative bargain when compared to the penthouse sales uptown at 15 Central Park West, The Plaza and One 57……yet it is a rather steep price for an apartment with a 14ft wide living room in my opinion: Hopefully the spectacular views, light, terraces and key to the park will compensate for that. The buyer is supposedly the owner of the Houston Rockets, Leslie Alexander, the previous owner of the Superior Ink penthouse, an apartment he never lived in.
